Complementary Therapies Glasgow

Jan de Vries Blythswood offer a wide range of complementary therapies in Glasgow, offered by fully qualified practitioners.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a component of the health care system of China that can be that can be traced back at least 2,500 years. The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow through the body that are essential for health. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease.

Acupuncture may correct imbalances of flow at identifiable points close to the skin. The stimulation of acupuncture points employs penetration of the skin by thin, solid, metallic needles, which are manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy but with highly concentrated plant oils, called essential oils, added to the massage oil or lotion. The nostrils are attached to a part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion and the immune system. Essential oils are believed to be absorbed through the skin. Each essential oil has different healing properties.

Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally related conditions, headaches, digestive disorders, premenstrual syndrome and back ache.

Bio Resonance Feedback

Bio Resonance Feedback is a non- invasive therapy which involves placing electrodes on your skin. The electrodes are connected to a SCIO machine which checks the energy wavelengths coming from your body and then counteracts bad frequencies by restoring the optimum balance.

The SCIO is a safe device and scans the body in the same way that a virus scan runs on a computer, looking for deficiencies, viruses, weaknesses, allergies and dysfunctions. Based on this, a unique health plan is devised for you and therapy commences right away, which means that you feel the benefits almost immediately.

Biofeedback is very safe and has a feedback loop which zeros in on your resonance pulse and sends back an alternate pulse to which your body responds to rebalance functions.

Food Sensitivity Testing

Here at Jan de Vries Healthcare, we are using the SCIO and Vega Biofeedback systems. The nutritional screening will indicate vitamin and mineral deficiencies and any food sensitivities you may have. It is completely pain free and all test results are given immediately. You will be provided with verbal and handwritten recommendations on how to change your diet to accommodate any potential triggers that have shown up in your test. In addition, a treatment plan will be discussed based on the results. A treatment session takes about an hour and costs £60.00 for adults and £45.00 for children under the age of 16.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is the ultimate therapeutic and popular massage of the head, neck, shoulders and face. This traditional and effective massage is excellent for relieving stress and also promotes relaxation with healing benefits and overall wellbeing.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats and works to prevent and disability through physical means. Physiotherapist are experts in movement and function who work with their clients, assisting them to overcome movement disorders, acquired through accident or injury, or are the result of ageing or life changing events. Physiotherapy can help recover from injury pain and stiffness, and increase mobility. A physiotherapist can also help you prevent further injury by listening to your needs and working with you to plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition, including setting goals and treatment outcomes.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists work holistically with their clients and aim to work alongside allopathic healthcare to promote better health for their clients.

Reiki

Reiki is Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing.  It is administered by ‘laying on hands’ and is based on the idea that a ‘life force energy’ flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If ones ‘life force energy’ is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Counselling & CBT

Counselling for all forms of stress, bereavement and relationship issues is available. Counselling combined with CBT has proven to be an effective form of therapy.
