Alfred Vogel and Jan de Vries in the Garden in TeufenBorn in 1937 in Holland, Jan worked as a pharmacist. Meeting Alfred Vogel the renowned Swiss naturopath opened up new way of thinking for Jan and he realized there were other alternative methods of treating illness. Studying homeopathy and phototherapy took Jan to Switzerland to study with Alfred Vogel. Jan then travelled the world studying alternative health practices.

In 1970 Jan and his family moved to Troon in Scotland to establish his first clinic. The clinic soon expanded and operated in Auchenkyle for many years. Jan de Vries Healthcare Blythswood was opened and established by Jan in 2001. He continued to practice here till his death in 2015. During the summer of 2022, the clinic was transferred to the last remaining Jan de Vries Health Food shop in Shawlands which was opened by Jan in 2010. Here in Shawlands, we are continuing Jan’s work.

From a very young age, Jan’s third daughter, Tertia was introduced to alternative health therapies, earned her qualifications and worked in the various shops and clinics, alongside her father. After many years of experience, Tertia took over the Blythswood clinic and later the facilities at Shawlands. Combined with the rest of the team, some who were trained by Jan, Tertia now offers consultation on health matters and the use of vitamins, minerals and herbal remedies, food intolerance testing and Bio resonance.
